Daniele Berardini

Research Fellow

Capsule Bio

Daniele Berardini was born in Ascoli Piceno (AP), Italy on 24th June, 1995.

After the high school diploma he moved in L’Aquila and he enrolled in the University of L’Aquila. He received the Bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in Computer Science in December, 2017, with a thesis entitled “On the K-Hamming Distance” dealing with a study on the computational complexity of distance metrics and the formulation of a novel result on the lower bound complexity of a generalization of the well-known Hamming distance.

He received the Master degree (cum laude) in Computer Science – Network and Data Science curriculum – in July, 2019, with a thesis entitled “Combining Machine Learning and Optimization in Financial Asset Allocation” dealing with the implementation of a Gated Recurrent Unit Neural Network for predicting 30-day returns and the implementation of a Convex Quadratically Constrained Quadratic Program for the optimal asset allocation based on predicted returns in the objective function with a constrained level of risk.

Since October, 2019 he is part of the Vision, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (VRAI) research group, hosted at the Department of Information Engineering (DII) at Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy).

Since November 2020 he is a PhD student at the Department of Information Engineering (DII) at Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy) under the supervision of Prof. Emanuele Frontoni.

Research Areas:

His research deals with the development of monitoring systems based on Machine and Deep Learning methods for real-time Human Behaviour Analysis from video in Indoor and Outdoor environments, with a particular focus on approaches based on the Edge Artificial Intelligence paradigm.
