Bioengineering of Physical Activity and Sport | |

Description Physical activity has beneficial effects on health. Biomedical measurements through standard methods or wearable sensors can help the training optimization without disregarding athletes’ health. We performed cardiorespiratory monitoring to feature performance levels, to manage chronic diseases and to prevent the occurrence of acute cardiorespiratory events, possibly lethal. Dynamic electromyography and biomechanical analysis support characterization of muscular activity and movement for performance optimization but also for injury treatment and rehabilitation. Eventually, mathematical models are studied to allow the description and the understanding of the mechanisms regulating the effect of physical activity and sport on the metabolic and endocrine systems, in health and pathologic conditions. |
