Methodologies for Maternal, Fetal and Neonatal Cardiorespiratory and Metabolic Monitoring

Description
Pregnancy is a physiological time in both prenatal and postnatal periods, critical for the health of the mother but also for the health of the baby. We performed prenatal maternal monitoring, mainly focusing on the evaluation of glycaemia, blood pressure and heart functionality for a better diagnosis and prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus, pre-eclampsia and peripartum cardiomyopathy. Prenatal fetal health status is evaluated through the measurement of fetal heart rate and heart-rate variability by traditional cardiotocography, but also by fetal electrocardiography and phonocardiography. On the other hand, postnatal health of women with history of gestational diabetes is monitored to avoid development of later metabolic complications. Eventually, postnatal newborns health status is assessed through the measurement of multiple biosignals, with particular interest for the preterm birth.
