Methodologies for Quantitative Physiology of the Endocrine and Metabolic System

Description
Physiological processes regulating glucose tolerance can be described and quantified through a class of mathematical models called “compartmental models”. The compartmental models defined as “minimal models” provides indexes that allow an indirect quantification of glucose-tolerance processes. Besides “minimal models”, more complex integrated simulation models can be designed for a more detailed description of glucose-tolerance processes. Moreover, indexes for a simple characterization of glucose tolerance in the general population can be designed by using statistical and machine learning models.
