Description The analysis and evaluation of the human upright posture provides fundamental information in order to unveil the underlining mechanisms related to how the central nervous systems controls stance and counteracts both internal and external perturbations of various nature, e.g. physiological, mechanical and sensory-driven. Further, this provides direct information about the sensory pathways affected by several different pathologies, e.g. diabetes, Parkinson's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, which can be used also in a clinical scenario to A) have a better understanding about the disease development in a single or a group of patients; B) help the recognition of the disease in an early stage, in order to develop focused therapeutic paths aimed at limiting or even avoiding the disease spread. |
