Description Large scale deployment of renewable energy sources gives rise to multiple challenges regarding the energy production and storage. Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) systems dominate the market of energy conversion and are commonly in use in Renewable Energies Systems. A research aim is the application of modulation methods based on sigma-delta to the control of SMPS systems. In the last decade electrical vehicles proliferation is becoming an important part of our everyday reality. Lithium batteries are among the most used energy storage system because of their excellent performance. Another research aim regards the development of Lithium-ion battery models, and Battery Management Systems to let the battery work in safe conditions, to estimate their state of charge and state of health. Furthermore, the integration of energy storage systems and electric vehicle in the smart grid is studied, and second life of batteries as energy storage. |
